Getting the Most Out of Each Session
Guidelines
- Each person has different preferences for how they engage in coaching sessions
- Take the following recommendations as guidelines
- Please experiment and see what works best for you
Recommendations
- Silence all notifications, minimize additional windows, ensure zoom is on group view
- Use headphones, meet in a quiet and confidential space, sit down
- Do not drive or engage in other distracting behaviors
- Give yourself at least 5 minutes to breathe and increase presence prior to session
- Come prepared with a topic in mind to discuss
- Lean into vulnerability—show up without your emotional mask
- Be open and honest to the best of your ability
- Name your feelings, including defensiveness, frustration, anxiety, fear, etc.
- Pull up a feelings wheel if you struggle to name emotions
- Use I-messages and don’t cross the net
- Say the thing you’re afraid to share or unsure how to phrase and allow me to workshop it
- Speak directly to each other unless otherwise prompted
- Acknowledge your contribution to challenges
- Take notes in whatever form you find most helpful
